Arnold P. Advincula, MD
Professor Arnold Advincula is the second ASGRS I Visiting expert, visiting Asia in 2018. As a pioneer in gynecological robotic surgery, his insights from before gyn robotic surgery became a volume leader were of particular interest to the delegates at the inaugural Asian Summit on Robotic Surgery, where he delivered a keynote lecture on the future of surgical robotics. He also led the Consensus Panel on Robotic Surgery in Benign Gynecology and was instrumental in helping to draft the Asian Consensus Guidelines on Robotic Surgery in Benign Gynecology. His visit provided a timely reminder to members of the ASGRS and the Asian robotic surgical community that the robotic surgery is a tool that must fulfill a need and not be a tool in search of an application, and that this principle underpins all truly successful robotic surgical programs.

Warner Huh, MD
Professor Warner Huh was the inaugural ASGRS Visiting Expert, visiting Asia in 2017. The primary emphasis of his visit was to reinforce the importance of having administrators understand the clinical role of robotic surgery in an efficiently run surgical unit. His clinics with administrators from public healthcare institutions and private hospitals in Singapore and Southeast Asia helped to provide valuable insights and allowed administrators to glean some much needed wisdom from UABSurgery, which is one of the busiest and most cost-efficient robotic surgical programs in the United States.
